Etern Optoelectronics Support To Pilot 50G-PON Industrial Application, 50G-PON Laser and TFF

On March 27, 2023, China Telecom completed the industry's first 50G-PON industrial application pilot in Etern  Optoelectronics, Jiangsu Province. The project takes the lead in adopting the industry's advanced 50G-PON/XG-PON dual-mode all-optical technology, as well as the industrial PON self-service platform and edge equipment developed by China Telecom, successfully piloting 50G-PON in industrial AOI (Automated Optical Inspection), The ultra-high bandwidth, stable reliability and flexible access capabilities of automatic optical inspection and factory digital management service scenarios construct the innovation scenario of digital factory.

50G-PON is a new generation of PON technology initiated by China Telecom and industrial partners in ITU-T in 2018. The 50G-PON/XG-PON dual-mode device adopted in this pilot project supports dual system access of 50G-PON and XG-PON. The 50G-PON system supports 50 Gbit/s downstream and 25 Gbit/s upstream line rates, and the XG-PON system supports 10 Gbit/s downstream and 2.5 Gbit/s upstream line rates. The XG-PON system provides over 10 Gbit/s stable and reliable transmission and differentiated multi-service bearing capacity for the factory communication network. To meet the industrial field of vertical industries for intelligent manufacturing transformation and upgrading of business needs.

The workshop of Etern Optoelectronics produces optical components such as optical filter(TFF), optical components and optical module, which have strict requirements on cleanliness in the process. Dust removal and detection are required after the manufacturing of the devices. Therefore, the factory has introduced an advanced AOI industrial camera quality inspection system, and the demand for single point video transmission reaches 7~8Gbps. In the pilot, each 50G PON ONU device provides more than 10Gbps bandwidth for a single quality detection point, and the 50g-PON port supports the aggregation of multiple quality detection points. Industrial PON self-service platform provides real-time network and business monitoring capabilities for production lines through the industry's leading intelligent access network technology, presenting the super bandwidth connection capability provided by 50G-PON for video transmission of AOI industrial cameras.

In the pilot, China Telecom applied the new self-developed industrial PON edge equipment with integrated computing power and industrial data acquisition interface. After loading AI algorithm, it connected to 50G-PON/XG-PON dual-mode port, and successfully realized two intelligent application services, such as smoke detection in the workshop floor and clothing detection in the workshop. Assist to improve the traditional enterprise production of intelligent, digital management level.

The cooperation of China Telecom, Etern Optoelectronics and Huawei successfully presented the 10-gigabit all-optical Base based on 50G-PON, and demonstrated the technical innovation of China Telecom in the development of all-optical digital factory solutions and products, providing a model for the development direction of all-optical digital factory. Etern Optoelectronics takes this pilot opportunity to provide all-optical digital factory solutions, optimize the production process, greatly improve the production yield, and accumulate valuable data for the future into the artificial intelligence detection. As a member of optical communication, Etern Optoelectronics is also developing the laser and TFF for the 50G-PON application.
